JAKARTA: Indonesian star Bambang Pamungkas scored the only consolation goal as the ‘Merah Putih’ were trounced 5-1 by German giants Bayern Munich in a friendly here at the Gelora Bung Karno on Wednesday night. Watched by a crowd of over 70,000 at the AFC Asian Cup 2007 final venue, Benny Dollo’s side were trailing 3-0 within the first 35 minutes of action after goals from Brazilian Breno (21) and Jan Schlaudraff (23, 34). Pamungkas pulled one back in the 61st minute but that was the only and last time any Indonesian would figure on the scoreboard as Schlaudraff completed his hat-trick in the 83rd minute before Toni Kroos wrapped up the game with his 88th minute strike. Indonesia will have a chance to recover from the heavy defeat when they play FIFA World Cup Finals aspirants Oman in a friendly on May 27.
